5/10/2019 Motivation is one of the important factor that affects human behavior both professionally and personally. So, I thought that it would be good to know what derives people to achieve their best at work. There are several ways to motivate employees using extrinsic motivation but what drives them internally? I wanted to learn from Furman’s experience what has worked for him for all those years. So, I asked him what are the internal motivating factors those help employees to bring positive desired outcome at work. He talked about motivation at three levels- Company, team and individual and got into the factors those affect individual motivation. He believes that internal motivation for each person varies. This is a journal that I write after my mentoring sessions with David Furman, President of Marketing, Hyster Yale Group. Why I chose David Furman as my mentor? Furman is an influential and a high impact leader who likes to lead by example. His humility, modesty attracted my attention at first place. The best part about these sessions is that I always walk out with a few take aways those I can use/ apply immediately.
